Deep Tissue Massage - NEW

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. Our muscles absorb daily physical and emotional stress which can lead to tiredness, pain, illness, limited movement, inflammation, depression and injuries.

By releasing the chronic muscle tension, the body will feel energised and rejuvenated.

Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem:

Helpful for: Chronic pain, limited movement, recovery from injury, repetitive strain injury, postural problems, emotional & physical stress. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders and can also help free trapped nerves.

Holistic Massage

Holistic Massage

Holistic Massage is an ancient healing art which relieves tension and stress, promotes relaxation and wellbeing. It helps relieve muscular aches and pains, stiff shoulders, arthritic pain, insomnia, stress, improves muscle tone, increases blood circulation and enhances joint flexibility.

The body's soft tissue is manipulated by the therapist's hands using gentle, flowing movements of varying degrees of pressure. It is most commonly used for relaxation, sore and tense muscles and general wellbeing.

Helpful for: improved circulation, the removal of toxins, aiding digestion, invigorating and relaxing muscles and helping to reduce the effects of stress.

Reflexology

Reflexology

Reflexology is another ancient healing art that has been used by many civilizations. This treatment has many benefits and is one of the most powerful therapies available.

Reflexology involves massaging and applying pressure to areas of the feet, stimulating particular points that correspond to the vital organs and the muscular and skeletal system. This is truly a holistic treatment that treats the mind, body and spirit. Reflexology does not cure disorders; however, a treatment can help the body to heal itself.

Helpful for: Hormonal imbalances & infertility, digestive disorders, migraine, back pain, insomnia, stress, arthritis, skin conditions and many others.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage

This massage is performed with the client in a seated position and can be carried out over light clothing without oils. However, for a smoother, deeper massage it is best performed with oils directly on the skin.

The therapist uses a combination of gentle and vigorous movements to stimulate and relax the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face.

Helpful for: Headaches, sinus problems, neck and shoulder tension, stress, insomnia.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage

This is a heavenly experience which will relax you instantly; harmonising, restoring and rejuvenating the body.

A deep, holistic massage using warm, essential oils with hot stones goes beyond the physical experience of a typical massage and enters deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well-being.

Physically, the circulation and metabolism are stimulated; mentally, you will reach a state of deep relaxation and spiritual balance. The warmth of these heated stones penetrates muscles and balances the nervous system like no other treatment.

Helpful for: Poor circulation and arthritis pain, as well as back pain, relieves stress & tension, removes toxins, calms the nervous system, promotes relaxation and is helpful for insomnia.

Mind & Body Balance

Mind & Body Balance

A superb treatment where reflexology and hypnotherapy are used together, to promote positive physical, mental and emotional change.

The two treatments combined are very powerful indeed, inducing a much deeper level of trance allowing the body to be more receptive to the reflexology and hypnotherapy, gaining maximum benefits. It’s like Feng Shui for the body, encouraging the flow of energy throughout the body and mind, releasing blocked and negative energy. This promotes rapid self healing and encourages the mind to change negative thought patterns.

The treatment is given by two specialised therapists.

Helpful for: Anxiety/stress, confidence/self esteem, motivation, weight loss, insomnia, infertility, depression, general wellbeing, bereavement and loss.

What happens during a treatment?

At the beginning of the session, the therapist will find out the needs of the client and any specific problem areas. The client's medical history will be discussed to confirm that the treatment is suitable.

If the chosen therapy is a holistic massage, the client will undress to their underwear and lie on the couch. Towels are placed over the client and only the areas worked on by the therapist will be exposed.

For reflexology, only the shoes and socks need to be removed. Indian head can be performed over light clothing or with the top half removed and covered with a towel.

At all times, the client's modesty is respected.

Client Testimonials

"A recent stay in Helston to unwind away from London was perfectly complimented by a visit to Archa Libra. I came across the practice by accident whilst grocery shopping, and made an appointment for the following day. The atmosphere on arrival is immediately calming, and Julia's induction was very professional, friendly, informative, attentive and very welcoming. You feel the therapy is going to be tailored specifically to your requirements, and from the moment she asks you to breath deeply and focus on and connect with her hands you are absorbed by an absolutely top quality massage (I’d whole heartedly recommend the deep tissue massage ). I thought she had quite a distinctive style. both working the muscles very thoroughly, allied with moments of holding pressure whilst I breathed into those areas. The massage felt varied, thorough, and was deeply relaxing. Afterwards she gave helpful advice about particular areas of concern and how to look after those muscles in the future. A highly skilled practitioner whom I'd definitely revisit and would highly recommend."

"I have to say that Archa Libra provides outstanding service, an empathetic ear and realistic advice about what benefits treatment may bring, I really can't recommend this therapist highly enough...suffice it to say she's simply WONDERFUL!!"
Suzy D - Helston - 29 Jun 2009

"I have just returned from a holiday in Cornwall. Before I left I did a quick shop in Somerfield and was putting my groceries in my car when I noticed a sign in the car park for Archa Libra. It was a wet day and I had time to spare so I popped in hoping to make an appointment. Unfortunately, there was a client already having treatment but I was asked to come back in about an hour. And I was so pleased that I did. I had a Holistic Massage and the experience could only be described as Heavenly. I have great stress and tension in my neck and shoulders and the therapist located exactly where this tension was and was able to ease it gently away. The music and atmosphere also gave me a wonderful sense of peace. The therapist has a quiet gentle approach but her hands have an almost healing quality. It was altogether a wonderful experience. I was only sorry that this was the end of my holiday but next time down in Cornwall I shall make sure that I spoil myself again and make another appointment (or two)."

"Wonderful experience. Safe, soothing, nourishing for the ‘self’. A treat I’d have every week if I could – highly recommended. Julia is extremely professional."
